The Digital Convergence Initiative (DCI), in collaboration with the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), co-hosted a high-level dialogue titled “Advancing Social Protection through Digital Transformation: Insights from the Digital Convergence Initiative”, as part of the IV High-Level Dialogues for Subregion IV (North America and the English-speaking Caribbean).

This 90-minute session spotlighted the ongoing digital transformation of social protection systems in Chile and Peru, providing practical lessons and pathways for countries across the region to strengthen their own systems. It brought together government representatives, international experts, and development partners to explore the impact of digitalization on social protection and the critical role of interoperability, data governance, and institutional coordination.

Highlights included:

  • DCI Overview by Raúl Martín Garcés (FIAP), detailing DCI’s pillars: knowledge exchange, interoperability standards, country support.

  • Case Study – Chile, presented by Pablo Ramírez Toro (SENAMA), outlining the country’s digital efforts under the “Chile Cuida” policy, and the integration of technology to support elderly care and institutional reform.

  • Case Study – Peru, presented by Viviana Cruzado (OFIS), introducing the Social Information Sharing Mechanism (MISS) and ongoing initiatives to digitize and harmonize data systems in support of vulnerable populations.
