An update on DCI standards work

DCI is pleased to have started the New Year with renewed motivation and a stronger commitment to making social protection delivery faster, more accessible, and more efficient through digital transformation. Below is an update on the technical interoperability standards workstream – part of our work to turn this mission into reality.

CRVS standards are now compliant with the EIF

In January 2026, DCI’s Civil Registry and Vital Statistics interoperability standards were found compliant with the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) principles, using the European Commission’s Common Assessment Method for Standards and Specifications (CAMSS) framework. Read the announcement here.

A new flyer which highlights our standards work is available. Please share with your networks, and get in touch with us at contact@spdci.org to learn more – support with implementation is available!

To date, the DCI has released 6 interoperability standards: Identification Systems, Farmer Registries, Disability Registries, Integrated Beneficiary Registry, Social Registry, and Civil Registry and Vital Statistics.

Three additional standards are scheduled for release this year:
Employment Systems, linking social assistance with labor market initiatives to support transitions to sustainable employment (expected release: April)
Early Warning Systems, connecting early warning and social protection systems to enable timely data sharing, trigger anticipatory action, and support rapid, targeted assistance (expected release: July)
Payment Systems, ensuring interoperability with multiple payment providers to enable faster, more transparent, and choice-based cash transfers (expected release: October)
