DCI develops various technical standard for interoperability. Learn more about our work and the standards process here.

In April 2025, the farmer registry and social protection interoperability standards were endorsed by USP2030 and released on Gitbook. Farmer registries (FR) are electronic registries, usually developed and managed by government stakeholders in the agriculture sector (e.g. ministries of agriculture), with data on farm holdings and farm holders. They support informed decision-making and policies, providing administrative, not statistical (i.e. census or sample-based), information on ‘who does what and where’ in the agriculture sector.

Check out the announcement from the committee co-chair FAO on the standards release.

Standards committee

The standards committee for the interoperability of the farmer registry and social protection systems brings together 18 experts from 16 different organizations including government agencies, international organizations, digital public infrastructure (DPI) initiatives, digital public goods (DPGs), the private sector and individual experts.
